Tasting notes
(14.2% alcohol) Good full red. Nose shows a roasted sweetness. Liqueur-like, rich and fat, with hints of smoked meat and damp earth. And yet this rather backward, highly concentrated wine has a firm spine of acidity. This struck me as a Paso Robles style of pinot.

Good deep red. Superripe aromas of black cherry and blackberry liqueur, with a distinct suggestion of roasted fruits. Then creamy in texture but with sound acidity giving shape and punch to the superripe flavors of black cherry and chocolate. Almost too much but saved by the solid acidity. The wine's medicinal quality suggests that it will last well in bottle. In fact, this is 14.2% alcohol, with a pH of 3.4, the lowest of these 2003s.
