Showing well and in a good spot, the 1997 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde is firing on all cylinders on the nose, boasting complex, nuanced aromas of smoked meats, barnyard, and savory, spicy characteristic. Medium bodied on balanced on the palate, with a streamlined, focused feel, plenty of acidity, and long finish, this solid Côte-Rôtie is at full maturity, and while I’m sure it will continue to evolve gracefully, it’s think it’s best to be consumed over the next handful of years.

Dark red color. Aromas of redcurrant, leather, lead pencil, pepper and toasted marshmallow. Smooth and rather stylish in the mouth; comes across as fresher than the '97 Hermitage. Finishes with sneaky length and fine tannins.
