Tasting notes
A blend of 40% Granacha (from 80 year old vines), 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 5% Pinot Noir, Mourvedre and Merlot. Shows beautiful black cherry, resin, mineral and oak notes and is very clean, pure and precise. Medium bodied with rich fruit, a really nice, smooth texture, great balance and a nice finish.

From renowned producer Rene Barbier, this 2002 exhibits plenty of tannin, but I still would not push its aging as I find most of these 2002s to possess fragile fruit. A deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by sweet aromas of blackberries, minerals, and a cold steel-like character. Its fragrant personality is backed up by medium to full-bodied flavors with fine density, purity, and overall equilibrium. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Importer: A Christopher Cannan Selection, various American importers including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300 and Diamond Wine Merchants, Oakland, CA; tel. (510) 567-9897
