Tasting notes
The 2008 Château Soutard is impressive and has a still youthful, vibrant style to go with beautiful black fruits, dried herbs, and saddle leather. It has good yet integrated acidity, is on the fuller side of medium-bodied, has terrific purity, and a great finish. This classy wine has another 10-15 years of prime drinking.

Notably dark crimson. Sweet, porty nose with a streak of green. I don’t find the balance here convincing at all. Sweet and sour. Green tannins on the end. (JR)
This big, tannic, powerful, masculine 2008 lacks charm, but it exhibits big flavors, lots of tannin and plenty of structure. It is the perfect wine for masochists who desire a painful level of tannin. I think the balance is there to absorb the tannin with another 5-6 years of cellaring, and it should last for 20 years.
