Red cherries and raspberries can be discerned in the aromatic profile of the deep, pure 2002 Volnay Clos de la Barre. Juicy, ample, and packed with red fruits, this is a medium-bodied wine with a long, expressive finish. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2013. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY; tel. (212) 490-9300

Cask sample. Sweet and juicy on the nose then it spreads across the palate in the most appealing way. Amazingly – worryingly? – forward and well integrated but racy too. Exciting. (JR)
