The 2011 Le Bon Pasteur offers ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit on the nose, high-toned but just a little blocky and one-dimensional. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy, savoury opening. Lower acidity than its peers, but as a consequence it lacks tension and feels rather flat on the finish. I could not score based on this bottle showing. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Glowing dark crimson. This smells like proper wine made from ripe grapes! Round and well balanced with only a suggestion of tannin underneath the fruit. But pretty pinched on the end. (JR)
Tasted blind. Dark ruby. Rich and flattering though without great density. (JR)
Lifted red and black fruit. Very spicy on the palate, lots of oak spice. Dark and slightly bitter on the palate. Not much pleasure to be had. (JH)
About the producer
Famed winemaking consultant Michel Rolland is synonymous with this estate. The vines here were purchased by his grandparents and he ran the property from 1979. Although Rolland still makes the wine today, he sold the estate in 2013.
