My first tasting experience, early in the seventies, found the 1962 Calon-Segur to be especially light, lacking richness and fat, and to be browning at the edge. Tasted again, in Bordeaux, in the late eighties revealed a wine that was still alive but light and uninteresting. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/87.

About the producer
Wedding gift lists traditionally include wine glasses or cutlery, but in 1718, Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, the owner of Château Lafite and Château Latour and president of the Bordeaux parliament, received a rather more impressive present: Château Calon.
