(from young vines in the Clos): Medium red. Inviting aromas of redcurrant, menthol, earth and spices, plus a suggestion of coffee. Sweet, plump and rather soft, with moderate depth to its red fruit and earth flavors. With modest concentration and sweetness, the tannins make their presence felt a bit early.

(tasted from cuve ; 13.3% alcohol without chaptalization; made from 18-year-old vines in the Clos des Santenots): Deep bright red. Musky, reduced nose dominated by chocolate. Silky-sweet on entry, then reduced and closed in the middle, hinting at sappy cherry fruit of very good density. Hard to judge today.
