Ex-chateau bottle tasted blind in Sauternes. Deeper in color than its peers, this has an exotic nose of mango, guava, honey and wax that is missing some delineation, but is nonetheless enjoyable in a simplistic way. The palate is out of kilter on the entry – the acidity seemingly out of sync with everything else and it seems to fade towards the one-dimensional finish. I have encountered better wines from this Sauternes estate. Drink now. Tasted April 2013.

Full orange-gold color. Rather evolved aromas of honey, roasted nuts, dried apricot and honey. Concentrated, thick and supersweet but distinctly exotic, if not downright extreme. There's a rather advanced tokaj-like quality to the flavors of honey, apricot and marzipan, as well as some acids that currently seem out of whack. Not terrible, but a bit weird for me. Distinctly aggressive on the finish.

Full gold. Aromas oforange liqueur and apricot; smells like a German BA. Sweet and superripe, but surprisingly fresh for a low-acid, high-pH wine, combining exotic pineapple fruit with good underlying minerality. This needs bottling soon.

Very deep burnished gold. Massive botrytis character on the nose with heady aromas of dried peaches. Really massive – lots of acidity AND sweetness. Some of the flavours of a good Tokaji. Very long already. Neat, clean finish and great weight. (JR)
