Score 89/100 · Drink 2001-2007, Pierre Rovani, Feb 2001
Fresh earth and white peaches can be discerned in the aromatics of the 1999 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts. This broad, medium-bodied, tangy, and well-balanced wine displays white fruit and spice flavors. It is masculine in its structure, yet lacks the density often associated with this vineyard. Anticipated maturity: now-2007. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Chester, VT; tel (802) 875-2139.

Sweeter and more open on the nose than the Folatieres despite the fact that the malolactic fermentation finished only recently; aromas of lemon and spice. Then vigorous and rather backward on the palate, with persistent lemony flavor.
