A bit tough but should come around. Plenty of blackberry, cherry and tobacco aromas. Full-bodied, with velvety yet slightly astringent tannins. Medium finish. Needs time.Best after 2000. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1998

This is a seductive, elegant, attractive Pomerol with a deep ruby color, plenty of sweet, plum, cherry and berry fruit intermixed with subtle toasty new oak. The wine is round and lush, with copious fruit and enough glycerin to provide a nicely layered texture in a stylish format. Anticipated maturity: Now-2006. Feb 1998, www.robertparker.com
