While I have never had a problem with volatile acidity in what is supposedly the second wine of La Mission-Haut-Brion, La Tour-Haut-Brion has never hit the high points given the fact that it is a burly, tannic, beefy, husky wine with considerable weight and power. The 1970 is more tannic and less well-balanced than the great 1975. I do not think it will ever lose its coarseness. While it may last another 20-30 years, what's the point of holding it? La Tour Haut-Brion
This now defunct château was part of the Ch. la Mission Haut-Brion portfolio until 2006, with the 2005 vintage the last under this label. The fruit is now used for the property’s second wine, La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion.
