Score 17/20 · Drink 2016-2020, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Oct 2016

Single parcel from south-facing lieu-dit Le Val Cornet, 50% Pinot Noir, 50% Meunier; 100% 2011. 50% stainless steel, 50% barrique fermented. Bottled January 2012. On lees in bottle 52 months. Disgorged May 2016. Dosage 4 g/l . Smells a little more yeasty than the Brut Nature with a light herbal/dried grass note. Unusual on the palate, a very definite flavour of something like hay and dried flowers. Very crisp if not bone dry. Long and that flavour continuing. A little broader than the Brut Nature and highly distinctive. (JH)

50% Pinot Noir, 50% Meunier. Entirely from 2011. 50% stainless steel, 50% barrique-fermented. 5 g/l dosage. Single vineyard: Le Val Cornet. Quite well integrated. Frothy but quite winning in a slightly sweet way. The fruit is not the freshest. (JR)

50% Pinot Noir, 50% Pinot Meunier. Blanc de Noirs. Base 2010. 50% stainless steel, 50% barrique fermented. Disgorged May 2014. Dosage 5 g/l. Single vineyard: Le Val Cornet. Easy to see the hint of oak on the nose. Rich palate entry spreads across the palate. Still tense and dry on the end. Promising though not quite opened out yet. (JR)

The back label information is geographical this time: based solely on Pinot Noir grown in the Val Cornet. Mmm – beautifully and intensely perfumed. Very neat and nicely balanced. No heaviness at all. Perfectly formed if quite youthful champagne. Real delicacy and great integrity. Persistent. (JR)
