1996 Ai Suma

Deep ruby-red. Wild aromas of raw crushed berries, black cherry, tar, smoke, spice and roasted nuts. Intensely flavored, dense and very concentrated, with a sappy sweetness leavened by sound acids. Complicating notes of leather and tar. Very firm and long, with moderate tannins buried in fruit. A huge, almost Barolo-like Barbera that maintains a degree of finesse.
