Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' 2006 horizontal, the 2006 Bahans-Haut-Brion has a fragrant earthy, woodland, almost autumnal bouquet that is well defined and fully mature. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, lightweight perhaps but with a keen thread of acidity, attenuated slightly towards the finish. Drink sooner rather than later would be my advice. Tasted April 2016.
Tasted blind. Simple direct nose. Round and sweet but without much real interest. Rather drying, hot finish. Gritty tannins. But fresh on the finish. (JR)
Blackcurrant fruit gums. Lots of liquorice. Loose textured. A bit astringent on the finish but with real energetic fresh fruit. (JR)
About the producer
Ch. Haut-Brion is the only classified growth in Pessac-Léognan. One of the five First Growths, it is renowned for producing both exceptional reds and whites. Along with its sister estate, Ch. la Mission Haut-Brion, it is part of the Clarence Dillon stable.
