Score 88/100 · Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Aug 2011
The flagship 2009 Magna Carta is a winery selection of the best barrels and is a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon from 18-20 year old vines, the latter barrel fermented. The nose is light but well defined with watercress, cucumber and a touch of green apple. The palate is nicely balanced with good acidity, although it is missing personality and complexity. Constantia’s Steenberg Vineyards is one of its oldest estates, although there is a modern outlook with a superb restaurant and chichi luxury hotel.
