Tasting notes
The 1990 Riesling Frederic Emile Vendange Tardive is very ripe and overripe on the nose, clear. Very intense and mineral on the palate with a lot of tension and minerals, as well as grip and phenolics, but also finesse and freshness. Very good length and firm structure. Great grip and length, and slightly austere.

Lime, chalk, peach and a peppery nuance on the nose. Great creamy ripeness in the middle palate; slightly sweet but thoroughly vibrant flavors of mineral dust, lime, grapefruit pith and dried apricot. Impeccably balanced riesling. This is really extraordinarily fresh and slow to evolve for a 1990 riesling. The finish leaves a coating of dusty stone on the palate. Just 14 grams/liter residual sugar here, consistent with the dry style of the house. May ultimately merit an even higher score.
