Score 92/100 · Drink 2009-2017, David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Dec 2009

Pernot’s 2007 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatieres offers a fascinating and alluring aromatic melange of honeysuckle, orange blossom, nutmeg, cardamom, ginger, and pear. Rich and satiny on the palate, yet preserving primary refreshment and with a lovely sense of lift, it finishes with bitter peach kernel and pear pip, piquant spice, and toasted nuttiness, adding interest and invigoration without halting the impressive flow of sheer ripe fruit. Here is another 2007 one can and should enjoy immediately, yet one that should keep well for at least 6-8 years. Veteran Paul Pernot followed up his superb though alcoholically outsized 2006s with an equally impressive collection of 2007s that he characterizes as more generous than but in many respects similar to his 2004s. He harvested most of his Chardonnay between the 6th and mid September. This site north of Folatieres is monopolized by Pernot and the Jadot-owned Duc de Magenta domaine. Bright, pale yellow. Expressive aromas and flavors of orange blossom, peach, nuts and flowers. Displays the supple, pliant side of 2007 and yet this is quite young, even a bit youthfully aggressive, on the broad back end.

Bright, fresh yellow. Highly aromatic nose combines peach, spices, flowers and herbs. At once dense and lively, with a juicy sweetness to the fruit and lovely inner-mouth aromatic perfume. Finishes quite firm-edged and pure, with attractive peachy lift. Showing early sex appeal.
