Steely, minerally aromas of yellow plum, peach, pear and iodine; showed some charry oak with air. Fat, dense and spicy; round, tactile and dry. Rather powerful for Folatieres. Finishes slightly warm, with some slightly developed hints of nuts and white chocolate.

A seamless, pure, focused wine, the elegant 2003 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatieres (white) displays aromas reminiscent of white flowers, pears, and minerals. Light to medium-bodied, it has excellent depth of fruit and a liquid stone-infused flavor profile. Anticipated maturity: now-2010. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. Medium yellow. Superripe aromas of peach, apricot and clove. At once fat and bright, with sweet orchard fruit and floral flavors offering lovely inner-mouth aromatic character. Spicy, tactile, very rich wine with impressive texture for the year. Girardin had healthy production of 45 hectoliters per hectare here, but this doesn't taste like chardonnay from a large crop.
