Tasting notes
This opulent, fleshy, elegant, dense ruby/purple-colored 2002 reveals plenty of new oak along with sweet black currant and cherry fruit, medium body, and fine ripeness, density, and overall balance. A sleeper of the vintage, this beauty should be consumed over the next decade.

Very deep crimson. This wine is really trying to impress. Intensely fruity nose, followed by quite a severe, underripe palate. Very stolid. No lift. A wine to serve on a really rather ordinary occasion, alas. (JR)
Deep maroon crimson. Raw, brutal nose. Then sweet, simple palate. Not a happy package. Bits stuck together rather than a harmonious whole. (JR)
