Score 87/100 · Drink 2001-2005, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2001

At 46 hectoliters per hectare, the 1999 Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Lavieres had Henri Boillot's highest yields. It is ruby-colored and offers black pepper and blackberry aromas. This light to medium-bodied, tangy, elegant wine displays metal shaving, black cherry, and pepper flavors in its fresh yet firm character. It is delicious, yet does not have the depth of fruit for cellaring. Drink it over the next 4 years. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083.
