Score 88/100 · Drink 2003-2011, Robert Parker, Apr 2003

Revealing expansive, sweet, mineral-laced black cherry and cassis fruit as well as a fragrant, medium to full-bodied personality, and outstanding ripeness, delineation, and purity, the 2000 La Prade is a sleeper of the vintage. It should drink well for 4-8 years.

Medium red. Reticent nose dominated by currant and woodsmoke. Chunky and a bit medicinal, with currant, dark chocolate, licorice and menthol flavors. Shows good density of texture and fruit but seems a bit stunted today. Perhaps simply in need of cellaring.
