A totally different side of the village comes through in the 2011 Meursault Les Tessons. Here the fruit is rich, layered and inviting, with more peach and apricot inflected hues than the brighter Terres Blanches. There is a creaminess to the Tessons that is impossible to resist.

This is almost always a huge success chez Pierre Morey but the 2011 version doesn't seem to bear out the potential that I reported seeing from barrel. There is mild reduction which is no big fault, and there is the same volume and concentration but the finish is aggressively dry to the point of extreme, indeed strict austerity that makes it difficult even for someone like me who very much prefers dry and austere to sweet and lush. It's of course possible that this is simply going through a youthful phase but a fair description of this today would be "difficult". We'll see as the wine develops but I am not optimistic even given this wine's terrific track record. Tasted: Jun 15, 2014. Drink: 2019+
