Tasting notes
The 2009 Corton Clos du Roi is very shut down today. It boasts tons of structure and sheer power. The fruit emerges from behind a wall of tannin just enough to get a sense of what the wine's ultimate potential might be. This is a big, ripe wine with a lot of vintage character in its fruit, even if the formidable tannin keeps the wine from being fully expressive.

Slightly orange. Very sweet and rich. Gosh this is like a burgundy from the 1960s it’s so sweet! Pure hedonism. (JR)
Good medium red. Higher-pitched on the nose than the Rognet, offering notes of blood orange, pepper and crushed stone. Denser, bigger and sweeter but quite young, offering very good stuffing and a strong cinnamon spiciness. Finishes saline and powerful, with slightly aggressive oakiness.
