Tasting notes
Glass-staining ruby. Smoky, mineral-accented aromas of blackberry, licorice pastille and olive paste, with suave floral and allspice nuances adding complexity. Silky, gently sweet and concentrated, offering dark berry preserve and violet flavors that tighten up slowly with air. Velvety tannins sneak in late, giving shape to a long, smoky finish.

The 2011 Cornas is perfumed and upfront, with tons of sweet kirsch, currants, licorice, sandalwood and graphite notes giving way to a medium-bodied, fresh and focused feel on the palate. Lacking the density and depth found in the 2009 and 2010, with bright acidity and fine tannin, it's still a charming, balanced wine to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years.
