Score 86/100 · Drink 1988-2010, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
The 1970 is dense ruby in color, with a big, black currant, cinnamon, herb, leather, and mineral-scented bouquet. This massive wine has huge tannins which refuse to melt away. At nearly 20 years of age, the 1970 remains a muscular wine that is impressive only for power and toughness. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted, 3/88.
