Moderately saturated medium red. Lovely aromas of musky raspberry, cherry, licorice and flowers, with complicating soil tones; compellingly high-pitched for 2009. Then silky, sweet and creamy in the mouth, with excellent breadth to its red fruit and floral flavors. A very open-knit style but quite fresh. The long finish features a whiplash of cherry and minerals. Superb village wine.

Palish medium red. Perfumed, slightly high-toned aromas of raspberry, spices and rose petal. Tightly wound, even a bit hermetic in the stainless steel tank, but with subtle stony precision and perfume. Finishes persistent and aromatic, with a lingering stony quality.
Last to pick because it’s close to the forest. Fresh and supple and round. Light and lively with great sap and life, lighter than most Chambolles but it shows well in these ripe vintages. So long as you don’t need real depth. Fine tannins. (JR)
