Tasting notes
Medium red. Pure, perfumed aromas and flavors of red berries, spices, flowers and soil. Dense, tactile and refined; much sweeter and deeper than the version made from young vines. Boasts a long, fresh, lightly saline, mounting finish and a serious spine of acids and tannins. Wonderfully round already but this very pure and refreshing wine is still a baby.

(racked two weeks before my visit; 13.2% natural alcohol): Bright dark red. Musky aromas of wild raspberry, flowers, game and minerals; smells powerful. Then creamy and sweet in the mouth, with firm acidity and enticing minerality giving the wine lovely early balance. Fine-grained, vibrant Volnay with noteworthy finesse. Finishes with excellent length and energy.
