The 1955 Cheval Blanc was a reconditioned bottle acquired through Justerini & Brooks. It has an odd nose at first with candied red fruit, aniseed and Seville orange marmalade. The palate is medium-bodied and slightly viscous in style with brown spices, dark chocolate and kirsch. It fades a little towards the finish. You can tell there is a very good Saint-Émilion here but that the reconditioning perhaps is not all it could have been. Tasted at the mature Bordeaux dinner at Arbor restaurant in Hong Kong.
