Leroux's 2011 Corton-Charlemagne is fabulous. Rich and layered yet also focused, the 2011 stands out for its balance and soft generous, contours, the latter of which is surprising for a young Charlemagne. An attractive mélange of spice and mineral notes add nuance on the layered, impeccable finish. Leroux 's Corton-Charlemagne emerges from a parcel in En Charlemagne. This should drink well relatively early.

Discreet but not invisible wood serves as an unobtrusive backdrop for the green apple, white flower, wet stone and citrus zest suffused nose. There is excellent richness to the big-bodied, intense and overtly muscular flavors that possess focused power on the attractively well-balanced and palate staining finish. This solidly complex effort will require the better part of a decade to realize all of its potential. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2019+
