Ripe, mineral-driven aromas of lemon zest, menthol, lavender and powdered stone. Creamy-sweet and palate-staining, with superb layered concentration and ripeness. Wonderfully fat, old-school grand cru combining uncanny viscosity with strong mineral spine. Finishes with superb length. This may yet go into a shell, but it's spectacular today.
Barrel sample. Extremely opulent and one of the very few white burgundy 2007s on which I smelt oak – almost whisky oak! – prominently. Quite rich and spicy and satisfying but you taste winemaking rather than vineyard at the moment. (JR)
