Brickstone garnet. Very developed nose of autumn leaves, tobacco and spice. Developed but inviting. Tastes a lot older than 10 years but still in harmony and plenty of soft pleasure. (JH)

Mid dull crimson. Sweet, slightly burnt nose. Some perfume. Vigorous and still a bit chewy. Lots of energy here, and there is still some potential. (JR)
Dullish red. Smoke, meat and truffle on the nose. Lush and soft in the mouth, with almost confectionery flavors of mocha and chocolate, along with a suggestion of stewed tomato. Finishes with fairly ripe, dusty tannins and decent persistence.
The 2003 Clinet is disappointing. Light to medium-bodied and soft, with hints of over-ripe, nearly raisiny, black currant and fig-like characteristics, it exhibits a late harvest-like style with low acidity, sweet fruit, abundant glycerin, and a disjointed mouthfeel. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

With Ronan Laborde at the helm, this property has become one of Pomerol’s most sought-after. He has increased the proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, which historically represented half the vineyard area here.
