Score 14/20 · Drink 1995-2003, Jancis Robinson MW, Feb 2011

Light bottle deposit. Mid rust red. Sweet and pretty old and developed. Very dry finish. Lost fruit – rather metallic. Not much fun at all. (JR)

Since 1988, Clinet has surged to the forefront of quality in Pomerol. The backward, dense, opaque purple-colored 1992 is an impressive albeit backward wine for the vintage. In terms of body, extract, and ripeness, it is as well-endowed as any 1992. Medium to full-bodied, with superb purity and richness, an overall sense of balance, fine length, and low acidity, it is a candidate for an outstanding score in 3-4 years. It should drink well for 10-15 or more years. A very impressive 1992!

The 1992 Clinet is a so-so wine past its best. Light truffle notes emerge on the loose-knit nose and it’s rather green and severe on the palate. The previous vintage is actually better. Taken from the Pomerol book authored by Neal Martin.
