Tasting notes
Good medium red. Musky, reduced nose is currently hiding the wine's fruit. Then supple and sweet, with complex flavors of raspberry, smoke and earth, along with a light saline quality. Gives a higher-pH impression than the Suchots and finishes with a slight dry edge. This may be dramatically improved by a racking. In fact, winemaker Munier mentioned that all these 2007s were racked last April, a couple months earlier than usual due to reduction, and that he planned to rack the Beaux Monts and the Richebourg again in December. He added that he liked this wine a lot until a month before my visit but now prefers the Suchots and Malconsorts.

Quite pale and blueish. A slight touch of jamminess on the nose, Very sweet start on a sample that was probably not the freshest. Rather obvious raw oak. Not the finest but honest enough. (JR)
