Score 89/100 · Drink 2004, Pierre Rovani, Feb 1999

The vanilla and poached pear-scented Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot is an unbelievably thick and rich wine. Its full-bodied and opulent personality offers honeyed and buttered earth flavors that are surprisingly well-defined given this monster's weight. It will not make old bones but will certainly deliver loads of pleasure over the next five years. Reticent floral perfume and a whiff of mint on the nose. Juicy and intensely flavored, with lovely cut. Quite elegant for this wine, but with no shortage of concentration. Colin noted that the potential alcohol was a bit lower here, which was a positive thing for this cru.
