Very toasty and tertiary on the nose, with oxidative influence giving an apple-cider character to the fruit – but all is not lost on the palate. It's dry and tart, but there is so much fruit concentration that the oxidative influence isn't ruinous. Even so, this is far from peak condition. An old master in need of restoration. (RH)

Driest Cuvée Frédéric Émile ever: RS 0.7 g/l. Quite a cold season but very dry September for harvest. Bony. A callow youth! Light and fresh and with masses of acidity. Chewy. (JR)
The 2007 Riesling Frederic Emile is clear, deep and fruit intense on the nose, very aromatic and mineral. It has over-ripe, dried raisin flavors on the palate that are intense, dry and compact, but does not have the finesse and stimulating elegance of the Clos Ste Hune.
Tight, crisp, a bit sour. Dry and austere. Less than 1 g/l residual sugar – almost punishing. (RH)
