Tasting notes
The 2004 Riesling Frederic Emile needs time to open up; it is very intense and concentrated with spicy minerals, great purity and lemon flavors. Intense, round and mineral on the palate, this is a very fresh and mineral dry Riesling with structure and lots of salt, great purity, and with more finesse and purity than the corresponding Clos Ste Hune. The finish is long, fresh and very salty and reveals a lot of grip. Great wine.

Wonderful! Instant charm and complexity. Mature, honey, orange peel, cheese, spice – but a very slight oxidative note on the finish, so not for keeping much further? (RH)
Herbal, vegetal – plus a good dose of lime. Something slightly woody about this, though not from oak, surely? Dry, balanced, full and aromatic. Forest floor finish. (RH)
Firm yet full and steely. Hugely expressive and mineral driven. Very classy indeed. (JR)
