Already released. Exceptional for Riesling. They would put this closest to 1990. 'Ripe, healthy, beautiful grapes.' Part of the trio 2000-2002 of excellent vintages . Full, almost oily nose. Fully expressed, round and lacks a little bit of acidity even though in terms of structure and tannins it is relatively chewy and austere. (JR)

Riesling 100%. The wine is not oak-aged as the Trimbachs believe that wood adds nothing to their wines, the salient characteristics of which are extremely pure and concentrated. Bottling is early to preserve freshness and the wines then bottle-age before leaving the winery. Pretty evolved, Powdery – see my Trimbach vertical notes. Incredible that this wine is available in more than 100 Tesco stores. Not many importers would agree to it, I wouldn't have thought. (JR)

100% Riesling from the Grand Cru Osterberg and Geisberg vineyards situated behind the Trimbach property in Ribeauvillé, and only produced in the best years. The vines are 40 years old, trained double Guyot and hand-harvested at 45hl/ha. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel with no malolactic or oak. TA 7.7g/l, RS 4.2g/l. Very tough and dry, this bottle anyway. The 2003 is much more winsome. (JR)
