Score 91/100 · Drink 2003-2010, Robert Parker, Aug 2003

Fashioned from 44% Mataro, 36% Shiraz, and 20% Grenache, the 2001 Butcher’s Block reveals a deeply pigmented ruby/purple color, excellent texture, and sweet aromas and flavors of kirsch, blackberries, and sandalwood. Possessing plenty of power as well as a chewy, rich, thick finish, it should drink well for 5-7 years. Importer: George Galey, American Estates Wines, Summit, NJ; tel. (908) 273-5060
