A little smokier than the 2009, still full of punchy dark fruits, blueberry and black cherry, fennel, grilled cedar, and black pepper, solid through the mid palate. Crushed mint freshness lifts the earthy tannins, this is less polished than some 2010s, a ton of heart, really quite delicious, and ready to drink. Denis Dubourdieu consultant at the time.

The 2010 Siran is vivacious on the nose with arresting scents of raspberry, blackberry, tobacco and cedar aromas that are beginning to open up. The palate is medium-bodied and fine-boned. Plenty of pencil lead infuse the black fruit, nicely detailed with an edgy, slightly saline finish. It has long been a Siran that required patience - now it is beginning to repay that. Tasted from a bottle at home.
Tasted at the vertical held at the property, the 2010 Château Siran, a blend of 46% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petit Verdot, has a very fresh and captivating bouquet with raspberry coulis, blackberry and cedar aromas that are still backward, but should repay further bottle age. With aeration, there is just a touch of fig that comes through. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine structure, a little grainy in the mouth with tar and graphite-tinged black fruit. What differentiates this from the 2009 is the precision on the finish and though the 2009 Siran has improved in bottle, the 2010 still has the edge. This is a very well-crafted Siran, but it needs several more years in bottle. Tasted February 2016.
About the producer
In the south of Margaux, this property has 36 hectares of vines. There’s an unusually large proportion of Petit Verdot (13%) in the vineyard, something which the team feels adds finesse, concentration and a spicy finish to the wine.
