Dark garnet with a loamy soil nose intermixed with leather, graphite, and some tobacco leaf as well as black currants, this wine is spicy, medium-bodied, but finishes with some austere and slightly astringent tannins. Give it several years of bottle age and drink it over the following 10-15 years.

Very deep purple. Scented and very Margaux. Lovely nose but a bit severe on the (very lightweight) palate. Pretty drying tannins. Not winning in terms of charm and I fear it will always need chewy food. (JR)

Very, very deep crimson. Round and ripe and black fruited. Rather cool. Some freshness of fruit. Pretty inky tannins. Mild – certainly some ripe fruit notes and then very fine tannins. Maybe just a bit too bureaucratic to light my fire. Well made certainly. Modest. This one slightly wrings its hands and bows whereas some of us want something a little more confident and boastful perhaps. Certainly enough fruit to compensate fior the (substantial) greenish tannins. (JR)

Bright ruby-red. Black raspberry, blackberry and violet on the nose, along with an inky, tarry quality that suggests energetic extraction. Dense but quite dry, even a bit severe in its black fruit expression. This boasts good breadth but lacks charm today. The tannins are a tad dry.
