(made from 100% pre-phylloxera bobal that's growing on its own roots, or "pie franco"): Deep ruby. Intense cherry and blackberry scents are complemented by tarragon, black tea and violet. Bright, mineral-laced bitter cherry and dark berry flavors pick up sweetness with air while maintaining very good clarity. A smoky, vaguely meaty quality sneaks in on the finish, which is long, gently tannic and sharply focused.

The 2011 P.F. is also from Iniesta and sees 10 months aging in 600-liter used French oak. The nose is broody and demands coaxing, reluctantly offering black currant, cranberry, cold stones and a touch of boysenberry jam. The palate is offers an effervescent entry – this wine just feels so?alive! The tannins are very fine and it embraces a sense of natural rusticity that expresses the terroir with immense clarity.
