Climate not favourable. Dry but not much sun and then rain later. Harvested rather late. ‘Muscular’. Angles are there. Missed something in the charm. You cannot avoid the character of the vintage. Very dark greyish garnet. Much the darkest so far. Brick rim. Dark and more cassis on the nose. Very distinctive after the first flight. Some cedar and beautifully fine-grained tannins, so fine but with a slight grain and defnitely more ‘muscular’, less seductive. Still juicy and fresh and much darker fruited than typical for his wines. At touch of char and dark chocolate. Very long but slightly dry finish. (JH)

Deep ruby-red. Explosive aromas of wild black fruits, coffee and smoked meat. Dense and fat but on the dry side, with flavors of currant, leather, chocolate and tobacco leaf, along with some dusty oak tones on the back. Best on the nose.

Full ruby-red. Roasted black cherry, game, mocha and smoke on the slightly rustic nose. Sweet, supple and lush for the vintage, with good density and sexy oak tones. A rather easygoing wine, finishing with sweeter tannins than the Tertre-Roteboeuf I tasted next to it in Francois Mitjavile's cellar.

Bright red-ruby. Black fruits, licorice and spices on the nose. Sweet, opulent and chunky, with noteworthy richness for the vintage; more pliant today but less vibrant and shapely than Francois Mitjavile's Tertre Roteboeuf tasted alongside it. Finishes with lingering spicy flavor and rather powerful chewy, chocolatey tannins.
