Score 90/100 · Drink 2003-2011, Robert Parker, Dec 2002
The beautiful, opaque ruby/purple-colored 2000 Fobiano is an unfiltered blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 12 months in French oak. A sweet, smoky nose of mocha, leather, tobacco, spice box, and black cherries is followed by a muscular, dense, chewy wine with surprising structure as well as tannin. Still youthful, with the potential to age for 5-8 years, this is a tasty, promising Italian red that can be drunk now, or cellared. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2011.
