45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc. 58 hl/ha. Harvested 18 September to 13 October. Dark core. Lighter at the rim but still a relatively youthful colour. Sous-bois , cedar and blackcurrant notes. Still plenty of fruit on attack, the acidity marked as well. Slightly pinched and abrupt on the finish but holding up well. (JL)

Magnum. Tasted blind. Blackish ruby. Distinctively herbal nose. Then soft and round in a mulberry sort of way. Very easy to like even if it is different from most of the Médocs in this line-up. Something a bit tarry about this. Lots of magic and not too austere in texture without being at all sweet. Lots of drive. Lots of tannin! (JR)

The 2000 Château Meyney was panned on release. Now after 15 years...? Well, it's slightly better but no great shakes. The nose is just rather muddled with mulberry and stewed plum scents mixed with high-toned iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, mealy in the mouth with a blunt, ham-fisted finish that just lacks freshness. It's drinkable, but not enjoyable. Tasted April 2015.

Mid crimson with a pale rim. Not the cleanest nor freshest nose – a hint of chestnut. Solid and salty but very earthbound. Pretty stolid. (JR)
