Rich mineral, stone, and earth aromas characterize the nose of the 1999 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos St.-Jean. Medium-bodied, broad, deep, and silky-textured, it is an extremely well-balanced and pure wine. Assorted white fruits, minerals, quartz, and spices can be found throughout its personality and its long, lush finish. Importer: Chateau & Estate Wine Co., New York, NY; tel (212) 572-7725.

Spicy but rather unforthcoming on the nose. Sweet and stony in the mouth, but still holding a lot of gas. Still going through its secondary fermentation and not yet showing real fat. Impossible to assess with confidence today.
