Tasting notes
Dark ruby. Very sweet and gentle on the nose. Heady, high toned. Correct and fresh. Sweet cassis with real structure – quite a surprise! The surprise of the tasting, in fact. Dry finish but very well-balanced. Lots of personality here. Bordeaux 1979 is a rarity. (JR)

Fully mature, with significant amber/orange at the edge, this light-weight wine lacks definition, as well as concentration and complexity. It exhibits a pervasive weedy, earthy character in its flavors and a sharp finish. The fruit is disappearing at an accelerated pace. I believe it to be in a decline. Last tasted, 6/93.
About the producer

With greater care in the vineyard and more precision in the winery, Ch. Beychevelle's star is rising. That's in large part due to the leadership of Philippe Blanc and investment by current owners, Japanese brewers Suntory and French wine group Castel.
