Tasting notes
Bright ruby-red. Aromatic nose shows intense floral, blackberry, cassis and spice qualities, with a slow-building floral component. Sappy and concentrated, with intense red and dark berry flavors and pungent floral character. The floral nuance builds impressively through the long, spicy finish, which shows excellent verve and clarity.

The 2009 Prieto Picudo is sourced from 100-year-old vines and aged for 17 months in French oak. Aromas of sandalwood, spice box, boysenberry, mulberry, and earthy minerals inform the nose of this vibrant, nearly shimmering red. It has the fruit and structure for balance and should evolve for another 4-5 years. It is the prototype for Prieto Picudo that will offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2024+. Bodegas y Vinedos Raul Perez is the hangout of Spain’s most visionary vigneron, Raul Perez. These latest releases only reinforce the legend.
