The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Villages from Claude Dugat reveals a complex bouquet of cassis, black cherry, bitter cocoa, warm spice and subtle grilled meats—the prelude to an intense, full-bodied wine with a deep core of fruit and supple, ripe tannins, considerable incipient complexity and impressive authority through the long finish. The synergy between barrel and wine here is especially effective. Terrific stuff considering the vintage, and though this has considerable upside, it's a comparatively accessible rendition of Dugat's Gevrey village that will deliver a lot of pleasure in its youth.

Good medium red. Cool aromas of black cherry, herbs, menthol and spices. Juicy, leanish and tightly wound, offering good cut and energy to its black cherry and herb flavors. In a savory, dry style for a Dugat wine, finishing with edgy tannins. (Incidentally, don't hesitate to buy Dugat's 2011 Bourgogne Rouge if you see a bottle; it boasts exotic red fruit aromas and a silky texture framed by brisk acidity. I had it just a point behind Dugat's village Gevrey.)

Claude Dugat's 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin is silky, racy and drop-dead gorgeous. Finessed tannins support expressive, perfumed red stone fruits, crushed flowers and sweet spices in a polished, supple Gevrey villages loaded with pure appeal and deliciousness. This is a beautiful wine at its level.

Tangy, pure aromas of redcurrant, red cherry and minerals. Dark fruit flavors are complicated by notes of herbs, licorice and spices. In a moderately ripe style and a bit lean for this cuvee in the early going. Just a tad dried by reduction on the back end.
