Pale cherry-red. Lovely minty lift to the aromas of red cherry, raspberry and licorice. Juicy, pure and penetrating, with excellent definition to the flavors of red fruits, spices and licorice. A very refreshing 2007 that finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and very good length. And classic Volnay.

(includes some juice from various premier crus) Medium red. Aromatic nose combines redcurrant, flowers and an earthy nuance. Plum and spice flavors offer moderate sweetness, with notes of earth and rust emerging with air. Finishes a bit dry, with a redcurrant flavor. Needs a racking.
Nicolas Potel's négociant wine. 'No chaptalisation and no filtration therefore the most natural wines we've made for years. Some winemakers make a comparisons with 2003 – but there were more than 100 days between flowering and picking in 2007 and 2008. 2007 was less delicate than we thought; I was tempted to bottle in September but found the wines were not ready.' Sweet dark cherries on the nose. Firm and spicy but with a delicacy that refreshes and good length. (JH)
